Crafted with passion: The story behind The Felted Fig
Welcome to The Felted Fig, where ancient traditions meet modern creativity. Discover my journey, my unique fiber art, and my commitment to inspiring your inner artist. I'm delighted to share my story with you.

Journeying into fiber art
My journey into the beautiful world of fiber and textile arts began long ago, learning wet felting at the Racine Dominican Eco-Justice Center. This initial spark ignited a lifelong passion. Felting became my gateway to the vast and vibrant realm of Textile And Fiber Arts (TAFA), connecting us to ancient cultures while remaining modern and incredibly versatile. The sheer variety of gorgeous natural fibers available for creation is endlessly exciting, offering a cornucopia of possibilities.

Where creativity takes shape
Sculptural felting has truly become my favorite artistic endeavor. I love to push boundaries by incorporating diverse techniques such as weaving and looping directly into my pieces. The addition of handmade paper, often crafted from raw silk, adds another layer of texture and depth. While you won't find traditional gnomes or faeries here, my focus gravitates towards unique pieces like sculpted faces, beautifully wrapped stones, and ornate vessels that are both useful and stunning. My mantra is to create art that marries beauty with utility.

Inspiring your creative spark
Beyond creating art, I have a profound passion for teaching fiber and textile arts. It is essential for me, as a teacher and an ambassador of TAFA, that every student walking out of my classes feels happy and successful. My hope is that attending a class or two will not only help you create your own masterpiece but also ignite your creative spark, inspiring you to explore other artistic endeavors. Join me and let's create something wonderful together.
"The Felted Fig's commitment to ethical sourcing and fostering creativity truly sets them apart. I left feeling inspired and proud of my creation!"
